Chicken Shawarma and Tabbouleh Salad 14.95
The incredible fresh flavors of the Middle East make a welcome lunch after the holidays. Dig into tender cracked wheat with chunks of tomato, cucumber, avocado and olives mixed with feta cheese, scallions, chickpeas and a flurry of mint and parsley, all doused with lemon and olive oil. The grain salad is topped with chicken smeared with a paste of smoky paprika, cumin and cinnamon, garlic and za’atar, grilled to order. Garnished with fried pita bread.
Batter-fried Eggplant Sub 11.95
Eggplant slices become sweet and almost creamy in texture when dipped in a light batter and quickly fried. So here’s what you do: Rub a toasted sub roll with a garlic clove. Layer on the hot, crisp eggplant slices with shredded provolone and mozzarella cheeses and few basil leaves. Broil till toasty and melty, drizzle with a light tomato sauce and sprinkle with Parmigiano Reggiano cheese. Be glad the Italians came to America. Served with fries or vinaigrette-dressed greens.

A basic recipe of egg, breadcrumbs, salt and pepper will do the trick, then put a thick slice on butter-griddled bread with a little provolone, a swipe of mustard-mayo, and a big dollop of bacon jam. The meat is juicy, the bacon jam is sweet and smoky, and the combination is kind of like what Mom made, only more so! Served with fries or vinaigrette-dressed greens.
